imagesThe Sony Xperia Z was launched back in January, and has achieved impressive results during its relatively short time on the market. The phone is no doubt the most impressive offering to date from the Japanese manufacturer’s range of Android smartphones, and already has four million sales under its belt.

The popularity of the Sony Xperia Z is easily explained by its impressive spec list. Among the key features of the phone is a 5 inch 1080p high definition touchscreen, a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, 13.1 megapixel camera and Android Jellybean OS. In addition to these features, the phone also boasts IP55 an IP57 certifications, attributes which made the handset waterproof and dust proof.

Although the Xperia Z has proven to be a hit, it is likely to face stiff competition throughout the rest of the year thanks to recently launched devices like the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4. Apparently though, Sony is already in the process of developing a follow up device to the Xperia Z. USwitch reports that a prominent Chinese website has revealed that a Sony device codenamed the ‘Honami’ is currently in development. While this phone is yet to be announced by Sony, leaked specifications suggest that the handset will pack a similar display, 2.3 GHz quad-core processor and perhaps most notably, an 8 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and Sony Cybershot sensor. The phone is also believed to sport 2 GB of RAM, a sizeable 3000mAh battery capacity and a dedicated Walkman audio chip. Because the phone is yet to be officially announced, these features are by no means set in stone, but we can expect more information about the device be revealed in the coming weeks, so we will be sure to report back to the latest updates. USwitch also reports that this phone is likely to be announced this September at the IFA trade show in Berlin.
